That's is why I took some code from a newer kernel.

There is support for 64-bit, but with some more instability.
(The disk images I provide are also 64-bit.)

Possibly, because it evolved.
(I would not have been able to do it otherwise.)

Anyway, developing and continuing any OS is a lot of work :)
