[FreeVMS] build 0.3.14

Hello all,

i tried to build new version with Ubuntu 8.04 and 6.06 (64bit) but I  
have always the same error:

/usr/bin/ld:  
/home/fausto/vms/freevmsx86_64.iomm/linux/lib/lib.a(string.o):  
relocation R_X86_64_32S against 'ctype' can not be used
when making a shared object; recompile with -fPIC

/home/fausto/vms/freevmsx86_64.iomm/linux/lib/lib.a: could not read  
symbols: Bad value

Do you have the same result?

All the compiling tools are the default versions.
